For most of my life, I had no father. By the time I was 17 years old I found myself burning for love. That’s when I met Norman. I was the singer in his band during my first of many summers in the Catskill Mountains. For me, it was love at first sight.
After learning how to play the guitar I sang my songs in the coffee houses of Greenwich Village. I was a Beatnik by night and by day had a great job as assistant to the president of the New York office of EMI records.
Jack Kerouac wrote me a Haiku one night at the Half Note jazz club. He wanted to take me home. But I loved Norman.
My first record was released. It was called “I Love New York”. Herbie Hancock wrote the music and I wrote the lyrics.
